About image

UGC 10214 is a galaxy in Draco constellation, listed also as Arp 188 in the “Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies” by Halton Arp.
The distance of the galaxy from the Milky Way is 430 million light years.
Its most prominent feature is a tidal tail so that it is also popularly known as “The Tadpole Galaxy”. The tail is originated by the interaction of UGC10214 with a smaller galaxy, the remains of which are visible in the upper right region of the disk of UGC 10214. In the middle of the tail it is visible a kind of condensation, which is identified as a Super Star Cluster.
Several other remote galaxies are visible in all the field.
