About image

This group of three galaxies is visible in Aries constellation.NGC 678 is seen edge-on and shows a dust lane which covers its entire lenght: its distance is 130 million light years.
Immediately “below” in the image there is NGC 680, an elliptical galaxy which shows shell-like structures in its halo: its distance is similar to the one of NGC 678 and the two galaxies shows redshifts with minimum difference, so probably they are an in interaction.
In the bottom part of the group there is IC 1730, very small and less bright.
In the lower left corner of the image is visible a gradient of light: it is the light of the bright star 1 Arietis, just out of the frame: I decided to leave this gradient and also the long spike in a way that it is clear that it is due to a star in the field and not to other causes like for example artificial light pollution.
