About image
NGC 3631 is a spiral galaxy in Ursa Major, located at a distance of about 35 million light years from Earth, with a real extension of 60000 light years.
It is classified like a grand design spiral galaxy, that is a spiral galaxy with prominent and well-defined spiral arms: in this case, there are two principal spiral arms, which begin near the center and then branch into secondary arms with lower surface brightness.
Several HII regions are well visible (no Ha filter used, only normal RGB filters).
