M 93

About image
M 93 is an open cluster in Puppis constellation, at an estimated distance of 3600 light years.
It is quite bright with its magnitude of 6.2, so at the limit of visibility with naked eye: but for the northern observer it is always very low on the horizon, due to its declination of -24°.
It includes about 80 stars, the brightest ones with magnitude around 8.2: most of them are blue giants, but due to the strong absorption of the interstellar dust they appears more white rather than blue.
