About image

Albireo, or Beta Cygni, is for sure one of the most beautiful double star of the sky.
The primary star has magnitude 3.1 and yellow-orange color, while the secondary star has magnitude 5.1 and color blue-white.
Their apparent separation is 34", very big: for a long time it has been believed  that it was an optical double star, due to the big separation, but today it has been thought it is a real double star, with an orbital period of several thousand of years.
The estimated distance from Earth is about 400 light years.
